Each week we have a walking field trip to El Retiro Park and/or to Vista Del Mar beach in Redondo Beach. Camp t-shirts are not recommended for beach trips but campers should bring towels, swimsuits and sunscreen. Beach trips are not swimming trips. Health and Safety:
Camp shirts are to be worn on off-campus outings. If a camper forgets to wear a camp shirt, one will be provided for a $10 fee. (If the t-shirt is returned in good condition, the fee will be waived.)
If a camper is injured while at camp, the parents will be provided with a BAND-AID REPORT. Anything requiring more than a few kind words will be documented. One copy is sent to the parents and the other kept on file at camp.
All Splash and Journeys staff are First Aid trained. All staff members undergo background checks and receive training prior to camp. Our camper to child ratio varies by camp. For our younger (1st-2nd grade) campers it is 1:8 on campus and 1: 4 or 5 off campus. Our 3rd-5th grade ratios are 1:10 on campus and 1:5-6 off campus. For Journeys teen camp the ratio is 1:8. or less. Our Academic and Science camps are taught by credentialed teachers and so the ratio of these classes is 1:12-14.
Faith-Based: We are a faith-based camp located at Resurrection Lutheran Church and Riviera Hall Lutheran School. We have chapel once a week, usually on Thursdays. During Vacation Bible School week we have daily Bible studies. Other weeks we have a bible story time once a week, usually on Mondays, and pray before each week. We welcome children of all faiths and beliefs but do teach according to the Bible and the Lutheran church.
